BA International Business and Management Studies (IBMS) Dual degree

Het IBMS-programma is een business-georiënteerde studie. In de opleiding wordt de praktische richting van de Nederlandse Hbo-bachelor gecombineerd met de Amerikaanse academische normen.

Studenten die afstuderen aan de Webster University voor de studie dual degree program IBMS ontvangen zowel een Nederlands Hbo-bachelor diploma International Business & Management en een Amerikaanse Bachelor: BS Business Administration of BA Management.

Students who finish the dual degree program IBMS at Webster University will receive both a Dutch HBO Bachelor degree International Business & Management and an American BS Business Administration degree or BA Management.

The IBMS program combines the practical orientation of the Bachelor degrees granted by the Dutch Universities of Professional Education with the rigorous American academic standards of liberal arts college education.

During the bachelor IBMS the most important aspects are:

- International students and educational content
- Entirely taught in English
- Combination of elements from the traditional economics programs in the fields of marketing and sales, finance, and management
- Focus on the complexities of international trade and commerce and the entrepreneurial environment

With the bachelor IBMS program students from the Netherlands and other EU countries receive a business-oriented education that is one of its kinds. The Webster University dual degree in IBMS offers a direct entry point into the international business job market. At the same time, because it is an accredited American degree, it is an excellent entry point into further academic studies at the Masters level either in the Webster University Worldwide system or at other universities all over the world.

The IBMS program has four study specializations or afstudeerrichtingen: Business Administration, General Management, International Business, and Marketing Management. The first lead to an American Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and the other three lead to an American Bachelor of Arts in Management degree. Each four-year program consists of 240 ECTS credits, the equivalent of 128 American credits. All years contain 60 ECTS; much of the final year is taken up with the obligatory internships.

Students choosing the IBMS bachelor program at Webster University in Leiden follow a set route through their program, starting with the first general year. This first year addresses general management skills (such as team building and cross-cultural skills), communication and presentation skills, study and research skills, and composition. This academic foundation year also covers many of the so-called "General Education" courses that are an essential aspect of an American liberal arts college education.

Students who decide to study at Webster University obtain a Dutch HBO Bachelor degree in International Business Management. You get a broad American academic education that will motivate you to think critically, continue to study throughout your career and to be creative in managing changes and other challenges.

Although many of the General Education courses can be covered in the first year, as a student at Webster you will find that you will encounter GE courses throughout the four-year program. There is also a Portfolio requirement which addresses your personal and professional (career) development.
