Why the European MSc in Occupational Therapy?

Today's clients demand high quality services tailored to their individual needs. In Europe this emphasis on quality care has lead to an urgent need for occupational therapists who are to evaluate, justify and innovate their practice. With the rising average age, numbers of disabled persons and those with chronic conditions, there is a need for highly qualified therapists who are better equipped to deal innovatively with complex situations in legislation and organisations health and well fare.

With these developments the European Master of Science in Occupational Therapy was fostered. The establishing co-operation between European occupational therapy schools evolved through the experience of exchange programmes between the Occupational Therapy departments of schools in Britain, Denmark, the Netherlands, Switzerland and Sweden. The concept was discussed and supported by ENOTHE, the European Network of Occupational Therapy in Higher Education.

What is Occupational Therapy?

Occupational therapists are health care professionals who helps other people to overcome practical problems of living that arise as a result of illness, impairment, disability or societal conditions.

To give you an example: if a child was involved in a  traffic accident, the occupational therapist would, as part of a health care team, work with the child and his/her caregiver to re-adjust to school, resume play and re-learn self-care tasks.
