Over deze opleiding
Literary and Cultural Analysis is the ideal BA for students with a keen interest in contemporary culture, literature and the arts, as well as a fascination for philosophical and political questions.
Contemporary culture is marked by extraordinary developments, unique challenges, and fierce conflicts. Meanings change constantly and are, therefore, always up for debate. Literary and Cultural Analysis teaches us to ask questions about what is at stake philosophically and politically in cultural expressions like literature, film, new media, visual art or popular culture. It asks questions about how the ways we give shape to meaning produces knowledge about and interacts with contemporary cultures.
The Literary and Cultural Analysis Bachelor's programme combines core courses with electives in a range of subjects, such as: 'Composing Theatre, Staging Music', 'Evil in Philosophy and Literature', 'History of Globalisation and International Relations', 'Islamic Art and Architecture' or 'Against culture', which explores subversive culture from Adbusters to Banksy.
Students are free to pursue specific specialisations or cross disciplines. Throughout the programme, you will have the opportunity to develop your own ideas and hone your skills through interactive case studies, focused on concrete cultural issues.
