The Master's specialisation in Economic Geography explores how regions are embedded in a globalising economy through the role of business networks, territorial branding and the diffusion of practices.
Economic Geography focuses on the variations in the socio-economic performance of regions adopting both mainstream and alternative perspectives. A core theme is how regional economies evolve through their position in local, national and global business networks, and through the way regions absorb practices of innovation, collaboration and branding. Besides generic and optional courses, the specialisation consists of a foundational course discussing the links between global business networks, value chains and regional development, a course on territorial branding and a course elaborating networking perspectives including local fieldwork. The thesis (including internship) can be fully attuned to the student's own interests.
